My Name Now: Genevieve "Goldie" Bloom

Location:
San Diego, CA

Marital Status: happily married

Children: Adrienne, 18 months in 2002, and hoping to have another

Have you or would you let your kids see Rocky: Hell no! She's only 18 months old! Besides, she would just run all around the aisles and want to hang out in the lobby and go visit with everyone, which, come to think of it, is pretty much like what I did! But seriously, when she is 17 or 18, I would not object. I would hope that she would be smarter then I was and avoid associated pitfalls, but at the same time, I am glad to have had some of the experiences, even the negative ones, because they made me what I am today.

What I'm doing these days: Most of you know that Richard and I divorced, though I still carry warm memories of him and all the wonderful things he is. After working as a nurse, (especially in hospice care,) I decided to go to medical school. I am now a physician with a solo practice in internal medicine. This is nice because I can set my own hours and spend time with my daughter. "Barney," rather then Rocky Horror is now the movie(s) I see again and again and "perform" to. I enjoy renaissance and fantasy faires and had a great centaur costume for a while. I have become somewhat involved with the leather community and am Pagan.

People from Rocky I've kept in touch with: Heck yeah! I still have contact with a lot of people, especially Doc and Seana Nyeswander who are among my closest of friends.

Why I first went to Rocky: A friend brought me April 1981. I stayed because of a man (isn't that always the way!?) While that didnít last, I quickly made so many friends and expanded my horizons (no comment) and before long, ya'll were family.

How I started performing: It looked like fun! Besides, I got to get close to Richard Baker who was playing Brad occasionally at that time.

Food I ordered after the show: uh, I have no idea

I last performed: in 1984

Before the reunion, I last saw Rocky: in 1998 or so

Did I buy the Rocky DVD? no, but I bought the VHS as soon as it came out.

My favorite Rocky memories: Ah the choices! There are so many delightful memories, though most were not actually AT the theater. I doubt I ever had a bad day at Queenís Circle on Sunday morning, no matter how sleep deprived I was. There are endless thrilling memories of political, religious or just plain angst-filled, conversations. Casual sex, less casual hurt feelings, phaser wars and white rabbit games.

And then there were the parties. Oh the parties.

But the one that stands out most was Christmas 1981. Spring Valley. Mike Seal, Art Moore and, Don Godfrey’s house. Snagus-raff (my snake) got lost but was eventually found curled around the branches of the Christmas tree and warming to the lights. Mike the Marine gave me a compliment I will never, ever forget. Heather snitted. I secretly longed for Richard. Despite our dopaminergicly compromised brains, we all piled into Flip Side, the awesome car. (Oh, what I wouldn’t give to have that old piece of crap back again.) The beauty of the 163 freeway and the festive holiday lights whizzed by. How could anything be more stunning or soothing to the soul? Despite a flat tire (which Richard heroically changed,) I knew for sure at that minute, that these were indeed the times of my life, and there would never be anything better then this. Then Lance, with a straight face, announced, as only he could: “I’m a bug”.

But as they say, I guess you would have to have been there.
